The MK Phantom is an advanced-to-elite freestyle blade built for skaters performing double, triple, and quadruple jumps. Its side-honed, tapered construction and refined rocker profile have made it a legendary choice among world champions and Olympic competitors, and it remains one of the most respected high-performance blades produced in Sheffield, England.
Tapered and Side-Honed for Elite Performance
The Phantom's tapered blade profile means the blade is wider at the front and narrower toward the tail. This geometry reduces drag during stroking and gliding while providing increased bite in the takeoff and landing zone where skaters need it most. The side-honing process further refines the blade's edges, creating sharper, more precisely defined edges that allow for tighter turns, deeper edge work, and greater control during complex footwork sequences. Side-honing is a finishing technique reserved for high-level blades, where the sides of the blade are ground to produce a more aggressive edge angle.
Engineered for Multi-Rotation Jumps
The Phantom features a 7-foot rocker radius with a smaller radius section specifically designed to facilitate deeper edges and easier turns. The crosshatched toe pick teeth are engineered to grip the ice deeply during jump takeoffs, while an enlarged top toe pick aids in toe spotting for multi-rotation jumps. Every aspect of this blade's geometry has been optimized for the demands of advanced freestyle technique.
Carbon Steel Durability
Forged from high-quality carbon steel and heat-treated to HRC 58, the Phantom holds its edge through the intense demands of elite-level training. Carbon steel's ability to maintain a precise edge under repeated high-impact landings makes it the material of choice for competitive freestyle blades at this level.
