The MK Dance is the most successful competitive ice dance blade in history. For over three decades, it has been worn by the majority of Olympic, World, and European ice dance champions, and at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, 85% of all ice dance competitors skated on the MK Dance. Its slimline design enables the rapid edge changes and precise footwork that define elite ice dance performance.
Slimline Design for Rapid Edge Transitions
The defining characteristic of the MK Dance is its slimline blade profile, which is narrower than a standard freestyle blade. This reduced width allows dancers to transition from one edge to the other significantly faster, with less body lean required to initiate edge changes. In ice dance, where programs demand continuous, intricate footwork patterns including twizzles, choctaws, and complex step sequences, this responsiveness is not a luxury but a competitive necessity. The MK Dance has earned the nickname "champion twizzle machine" for its contribution to rotational footwork performance.
Dance-Specific Rocker and Toe Configuration
The 7-foot rocker radius provides a responsive feel through turns and transitions while maintaining enough stability for sustained edges and deep knee bend. The straight-cut toe rake is specifically designed for ice dance, where toe picks are used more sparingly than in freestyle and a lower, less aggressive pick profile reduces the risk of catching during close-hold footwork and pattern dance sequences.
Competition-Proven Construction
Made in Sheffield, England, the MK Dance is built to withstand the demands of world-class competition. Available in both parallel and parabolic blade options, it comes with MK's lifetime warranty. The parabolic variant features unique weight-centering technology for enhanced stability and precision during complex dance elements.
