The John Wilson Phoenix 99 represents the pinnacle of figure skating blade technology, featuring a full carbon fiber body with a stainless steel runner that makes it 46% lighter than the traditional Pattern 99. Designed for elite competitive skaters, the Phoenix 99 goes beyond the Revolution chassis concept by constructing the entire blade body from carbon fiber, creating the lightest blade on the market while retaining the iconic Pattern 99 profile that champions have trusted for decades.
Full Carbon Fiber Body
Unlike the Revolution series, which pairs a carbon fiber chassis with a traditional steel blade body, the Phoenix constructs the entire blade housing from carbon fiber using a patented nano-charged matrix formula. This advanced composite delivers exceptional strength and rigidity while achieving weight reductions that no other construction method can match: 46% lighter than traditional blades, 30% lighter than Revolution blades, and up to 20% lighter than aluminum alternatives. The dramatic weight savings translate into increased energy efficiency, greater jump height potential, and significantly reduced fatigue.
Pattern 99 Profile with Enhanced Features
The Phoenix 99 maintains the same primary rocker, secondary rocker, toe-pick geometry, and heel lift as the traditional Pattern 99. However, it features two key enhancements: the bottom toe pick tooth is not tapered, providing a bigger bite on the ice for more secure takeoffs, and the stanchion height has been increased, allowing for deeper edges and greater boot clearance during extreme edge work.
Stainless Steel Runner
The blade runner is crafted from 420 stainless steel formulated with molybdenum and vanadium, delivering improved corrosion resistance and extended edge life compared to traditional carbon steel runners. Stainless steel requires less maintenance and resists rust, making it particularly practical for the demands of daily elite-level training.
