Jackson Boot Sizing (US Sizes, Runs & Widths)

Jackson boots are sized in US sizes, in separate size runs for different skaters, and in more than one width. That makes them straightforward to order once you know how the system works — and easy to get wrong if you assume it works like a shoe size, or like another skate brand. This guide covers all three parts: the size, the run, and the width.

⚠️ There is no conversion between EDEA and Jackson sizes. EDEA sizes are a direct millimeter measurement of your foot. Jackson uses US sizing across separate size runs. The two systems are built differently and one cannot be translated into the other — not by a chart, not by a formula. If you are switching brands, size the new brand from scratch. Your size in one tells you nothing reliable about the other.

Start From Your Street Shoe Size — Then Size Down

Unlike a millimeter-based system, Jackson sizing does start from a number you already know: your street shoe size. It just is not the same number.

Jackson boots run roughly 1 to 1.5 sizes smaller than your street shoe. A skater who wears a women's 8 street shoe is usually a Jackson 6.5 or 7. This is deliberate — a figure skating boot has to hold your foot still, so it is fitted far more snugly than a shoe you walk in.

💡 Tip: "One to one and a half sizes down" is a starting point, not a guarantee. Foot shape, width, and the individual model all move it. Treat it as the size to try first, not the size to order blind.

Which Size Run Are You In?

This is the part that catches people out. Jackson does not use one continuous size scale — it uses separate runs, and the same number appears in more than one of them. A 13 in the Misses run is a small youth boot. A 13 in the Men's run is one of the largest boots Jackson makes.

⚠️ Watch the wrap-around. The Misses and Boy's runs start in youth sizes, climb to 13, and then restart at 1. So within the Misses run, a 13 is smaller than a 1 — and smaller than a Women's 4. Always check which run a boot belongs to before you read its size number. The run is named in the product title.

Widths

Jackson offers more than one width, and which widths exist depends on the line. Getting the width right does more for control and comfort than going a step stiffer.

Line Widths Offered Notes
Women's & Misses Regular (A/B) · Wide (C/D) Regular fits most skaters. Choose Wide if you feel pressure across the ball of the foot.
Men's & Boy's Medium · Wide (C/D) Medium is the standard fit in these lines — it is the equivalent of Regular, not a third option.
Recreational & complete skates Medium, or B / C Entry-level models are often offered in a single width. Check the product page.
💡 Tip: Jackson's competitive boots are built on the Elite Performance Last, which pairs a rounder toe box with a narrower heel. If you have a wide forefoot and a slim heel, that shape may suit you in Regular where another brand would push you to a wide.

Then Check the Model

Not every model covers its whole run. Size availability varies from boot to boot — one women's model may run 4 to 8 while another runs 4 to 11, and widths vary the same way. Once you know your size, run and width, confirm the specific boot carries it on its product page before ordering.

Sizing a Growing Child

It is tempting to buy big and let a child grow into their skates. Resist it. An oversized boot lets the foot slide, which costs control, causes blisters, and makes every skill harder to learn — and it can be a genuine injury risk on landings.

⚠️ Important: Allow no more than about 10mm of growth room — roughly half a size. Beyond that, the boot cannot hold the foot properly. If a child is between sizes and growing quickly, a complete skate at the recreational end is a far better answer than an oversized boot, because it costs less to replace.
